I bought this book-end for £25 at an antiques fair when I was a student, 20 years ago. I’m still hoping to find another to make the pair. Can you tell me more about it?
Chris Morley, London
What a dynamic looking object this is – and pure Art Deco. It was designed by Charles Lemenceau (1905-80) and made by the French manufacturer St. Clements, who produced stylish figures during the 1920s and 30s. At auction you could expect it to make £150. I do hope you find another because a pair would be worth £300-£400.
